Lang Lang United Soccer Club was founded in October 2015. The need was seen by founders, Grant Spence and Kaye McCraw to establish a club in the community of Lang Lang, to further promote and develop soccer in the region. The club is affiliated with the Football Federation of Victoria (FFV), and the Gippsland Soccer League (GSL) who both have strongly supported our continued development.
The location of the club has fitted well within the zone of other GSL clubs. We currently play in a league consisting of 9 clubs, Drouin, Phillip Island, Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Leongatha, Mirboo North, Prom Coast and Korumburra. One of the main attractions of the GSL competition is that the Men's, Women's and Junior teams all play on the same day, allowing families to play together which is an option rarely available in the larger Metro leagues.
In previous seasons, we have been fortunate to be able to field 6 teams, consisting of Under 7's, Under 11's, Under 14's, Women's, Men's Reserves and Men's Seniors. We have just under 100 registrered players of which approximately 30% are made up of women.
In the 2016 season we had a successful campaign both on and off the field with the club developing rapidly and the Men's Reserves winning the GSL Grand Final in their debut season.
Our home ground is based at the Lang Lang Showgrounds and the club has worked closely with the Showgrounds Society to establish themselves in the community.
We have received continued, outstanding support from local businesses and establishments in and around the Lang Lang area and we are lucky to count the Bendigo Bank, Lang Lang Eyecare and Westernport Childcare as sponsors of the club, among others.
